Convert PDF documents to PDF/A archival format for long-term preservation. Choose a PDF/A target profile, then validate the output against the receiving archive’s requirements and inspect the result.

Select the appropriate PDF/A conformance level for your needs.
Download the converted copy, validate the required PDF/A profile and review the pages before archiving.
PDF/A is an ISO-standardized version of PDF designed for long-term archiving. It embeds all resources and prohibits features that could prevent future rendering.
Common levels include PDF/A-1b (basic visual preservation), PDF/A-2b (more features), and PDF/A-3b (allows attachments).
Use the profile specified by the receiving archive. This tool targets PDF/A-1b, PDF/A-2b or PDF/A-3b; validate the converted file with a suitable independent validator.
Conversion reconstructs the document and can change colors, fonts, interactive features or other content. Compare the output with the original and validate the required archival profile.
A conforming PDF/A file is also a PDF and can be opened in PDF readers. This tool does not provide a separate operation to remove an archival profile.
